Why are Christians so selfish?

I can see what you mean because I am like that quite a bit. When things go bad and I am desperate, I tend to want God to answer my prayers and do this, and do that and the other thing for me immediately. When everything is going great, I tend to only thank Him but also forget about Him quite a bit.
